Prompt: “No man was ever wise by chance.” – Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Horatio liked to think that he was wise. Each of his choices in life were carefully measured, their pros and cons weighed until he could make a logical and informed decision. He would spend hours on end, just thinking about the best possible way to go about his day.
Unfortunately, by the time he had come to a decision about which foot should touch the ground first when getting out of bed, the day was typically almost finished.
But Horatio’s mindset completely changed when he met Bertha. Bertha was perhaps the most carefree person that Horatio had ever met. Yet, there was a certain wisdom about her that immediately sparked his curiosity. He couldn’t understand how a person could get out of bed and put either their left or right foot down without so much as a second thought; the choice of the first foot to touch the ground in the day could change the events of the entire day.
Horatio believed that by applying his wisdom, he could fully control the outcome of his life. But Bertha had everything figured out. She seemed to be able to control her life without hesitating when getting out of bed.
But how?
