Take Ten to Write

“Where There Is Darkness…”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

Music prompt: “Everdream” by Epic Soul Factory

At first, there was just darkness. No light meant no life. The world was still. Silent. Empty.

But then, an eruption of joy. The silence ceased just as the darkness was lifted.

Beings sprung to life, birthed from happiness. From light.

Slowly, the world filled. Colours danced about, creating the sky, the ground, the water. In turn, the natural energy brought forth creatures of their own. Large and small, they populated the world, each brining their own magic. The magic only they saw. The magic only they knew.

As the world settled, order was formed. Friendships were forged, stronger than the ground upon which they stood.

And yet, backs were turned. Betrayal, pain. For the darkness had grown jealous of what the light had created where it had not.

War. Bloodshed. Death.

Stillness. Silence. Emptiness.

Still, the light returned. Just as it always would.

Final Comments: I had a really good time writing this one. Gave me some ideas for future stories…
