“When is Class Over?”

This Take Ten to Write story was submitted by 12-year-old Mary. Happy reading!

Prompt: “Can we go now?”

Social Studies

  • Greg is the homeroom teacher. “When is class over?” groaned Luna, a girl in his class. “Can we finish class now?”
    • “You still have to get out your textbook,” Greg said.
    • “You still have to get your ruler.”
    • “You still have to get your pencil and eraser.”
  • Then he said “I’m waiting on you. Everyone else has their textbook, ruler, pencil and eraser.”

Math

  • After Social Studies, it was math. “When is class over?” moaned Luna.
    • “But you put everything from Social Studies away.” Greg said.
    • “You need the same stuff as for Social Studies except for your math textbook. Everyone else has their things already and I’m waiting on you.”

Science

  • After Math, it was Science. “When is class over?” asked Luna, who was bored.
    • “You need the same stuff as Math and Social Studies for Science, but you put it all away.” Greg said.
    • “Grab your Science textbook, your ruler and your pencil and eraser.”
    • “Then start your work. When you finish it, class will be over.” Later, class was over. “Yay!” exclaimed Luna. “I get to go to the birthday party now!”
