Take Ten to Write

“Two Moons”

“Kam, wake up.”

Lila’s whispered voice in my ear pulls me from my sleep. I blink and see my sister’s blurry outline hovering over me.

“What time is it?” I groan, rubbing my eyes.

“That’s not important,” she whines. “Come on, come on!” She yanks my arm, nearly pulling me off my bed.

“Okay, I’m coming, jeez, calm down.”

I swing my legs over the side of my bed. The cold from the floor on my bare feet sends a jolt of energy up through my body.

“Come on!” Lila says, practically dragging me into the hallway.

She doesn’t stop until we reach the front door. She sucks in a deep breath and turns to face me.

“Okay,” she says, “don’t freak out.”

“Why in the world would I possibly-“

She flings the door open. My mouth drops.

There are two moons.
