It had been days since she’d last shown her face. Not that it had been her fault; her overprotective father had shielded her from what he thought was a world of danger.

So, she was kept away, under the so-called protection of her father. Not quite a prisoner but not quite free.

Every day, she would try to get past her father’s guards, to get the tiniest peek of that world. Her father’s world of danger. Her world of wonder.

She’d succeeded a few times before. She’d glimpsed a bright future, a land of possibilities.

But those times had never lasted. The guards had surrounded her again, plunging the world back into darkness.

This would be the first time in what felt like forever that she would see that world again. She’d tricked the guards into dispersing for a while; it was her chance.

Slowly, the window opened. Hesitantly, she approach before peeking out.

A warm smile spread across her face as the world appeared below.

Final Comments: This was a lot of fun to write and imagine!
