“The Notebook”

Prompt: “Every story I create, creates me. I write to create myself.” — Octavia E. Butler

I have long hair that stretches all the way down to my butt, I write.

As soon as I dot the period on the page to finish the sentence, the tingling begins. Seconds later, I reach behind myself to feel my hair; it’s down to my butt!

I thoughtfully tap the pencil against my lip. What should I change next?

Got it.

I’m the strongest person in the world. I can lift even a car easily.

Once again, a tingling, this time through my whole body. A sudden rush of strength flows through my muscles and my eyes pop open.

“Wow,” I whisper, stretching out a hand and flexing my fingers. “This is AWESOME!”

But, of course, I’ve got to test it to make sure that it’s true. Can I really lift a car?

I’m careful to tuck my magical pencil and notebook into the back of my desk to keep it safe. Sure, the hair thing might’ve been real, but lifting a car? Is it even possible?

I rush outside and head directly to the car. I take a deep breath before crouching beside the car. One more deep breath, then I lift with all my might.

Final Comments: Eh, this one wasn’t great. Maybe I should’ve started with how the protagonist got the magical notebook and/or pencil to begin with…
