“The Little Things”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
Prompt: Write a story titled “The Little Things”.
The Little Things are hard to describe. They’re little, of course, and just… things.
Take Biri, for example. Biri is little and a thing. To be more precise, she’s a pebble. A pebble is a little thing, and this particular pebble is named Biri.
Of course, not all Little Things are inanimate objects.
Tex is little and a thing, but Tex is also alive. Tex is an ant. An ant is a little thing, and this particular ant is named Tex.
Now that there is some context, we may continue this story about the two aforementioned Little Things: Biri and Tex.
Biri and Tex were best friends, though one was alive and the other was not. However, neither was aware of what the other wasn’t.
Biri lived a simple life, for she was not alive at all. Tex, though alive, also lived a simple life, which consisted mainly of sitting next to Biri and talking. He didn’t necessarily talk to Biri, but he enjoyed sitting next to her for no reason other than she was located in one of the only sunny spots in the forest.
Now, these two Little Things were not particularly interesting, nor did they stand out from any other Little Thing who lived in the forest. Rather, it is what these two Little Things did and the adventure that followed that is worth mentioning.
Final Comments: I have no idea what I just wrote about.
