Prompt: “The best way out is always through.” — Robert Frost
Ah, so you’re wondering about the Kidoens birds? Yes, well that’s actually quite a funny little story. Sit down and I’ll tell you all about how we made their acquaintance.
We were off exploring in Peru when we stumbled across the most magnificent forest. Now, we had originally planned on finishing up our trip when we reached the forest. But when we saw those beautiful trees, we just couldn’t resist extending our expedition just a little bit longer.
And wow, was it worth it.
Not only did we discover an entirely new species of tropical bird, but we also got to have the experience of a lifetime adventuring in a beautiful foreign forest.
But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Now, this forest was simply incredible. Remind me to show you the pictures later, because words couldn’t begin to describe just how fantastical and marvelous this jungle was in real life.
We spent a good week tucked into the depths of the jungle. We were determined to explore every single inch of space and to uncover each and every one of its secrets.
Nine days later, we found them. The now-called Kidoens bird.
They were just magnificent. Their feathers were the brilliant, bright colours that were native to the country’s jungles, but these birds were still unique. We watched with astonishment as their feathers changed colour before our very eyes.
They were kind enough to give us a private show. The most similar experience I can think of to describe it would be a light show. It was just spectacular.
We spent a good three days observing the Kidoens birds before finally returning home.
And to think that we almost passed up such a unique and special opportunity…
