“The Beach of Blue Sands”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
Prompt: Sand.
The sand was blue. Yes, I’m sure it was sand, because only sand has this horrid, grainy texture and goes literally everywhere. But it was blue. Blue like the sky. Blue like the water. Blue like the entire planet.
Man, I hated that planet. Everything was blue. But I especially hated the sand.
That sand hid the horrors of the world that no one else saw. It hid…
The Crabs.
No, I’m not talking about the cute little crabs with the cute pincers and the cute bulgy eyes on top of their cute heads. I’m talking about the massive, ugly Crabs that haunt your dreams. Crabs that claw out your eyes and tear your head from your shoulders if you so much as lay a toe on their territory. Crabs that chase you to the ends of the earth if you try running.
Luckily, the Crabs only live in one place. The Beach of Blue Sands. Unfortunately, that was the name of that particular planet I visited. ‘Visited’ perhaps isn’t the right word… I was sent there. Exiled. Forbidden to return to safe land.
Final Comments: I like crabs…
