“That Blue Water Bottle”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
Prompt: Write a story titled “That Blue Water Bottle”.
It happened before I even knew what hit me.
Alright, so, just backing it up quickly, I did, in fact, know what hit me. It was a blue water bottle. It was honestly just the ugliest shade of blue—trust me, I would know because it hit me right in the middle of my face.
Anyway, I was just walking around, minding my own business. It was a Tuesday night and it was freezing outside. I don’t really think that there was anything special about that night other than… the incident… so I guess I’ll just jump straight to that.
I had been trying to find a spot to rest for a while already, so I sat down on this nice little bench beside an apartment. Sure, it was cold, but I’m a man and I needed to prove my manliness by withstanding the freezing temperatures without complaint. What? Doesn’t every man do that?
So there I was, just sitting there and silently admiring the beauty of my city, when I heard a clatter above me. It sounded like something had been knocked over. Honestly, at the time, I didn’t really think much of it.
A few minutes passed before I heard that sound again. This time, I looked up.
It was really small at first. Then it got bigger. It just kept getting bigger and bigger until…
BAM!
It hit me.
That blue water bottle…
Final Comments: Full disclaimer, I had a headache while writing this one. I also unfortunately didn’t feel super inspired by this prompt. Honestly, I didn’t really have any ideas about this one.

Curious to know what happens next… Since it was written from a knowing first person pov? :O
