“Star Dance”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
The light came first. A soft glimmer, sparkling softly in the night. A sprinkle of twinkles, blinking into and out of existence.
Slowly, the light grew. One by one, each point became brighter. As they brightened, they twirled around each other. They traced patterns of light across the night sky. Their trails remained for a moment before fading back into darkness.
They leapt and floated and circled around each other. To an outsider, their dance may have looked chaotic. To them, it was perfectly choreographed. Each one of them knew their place. They knew where and when to go, who to dance with, how bright to shine.
Not one of them stole the show. Not one of them wanted more attention. Not one of them stood out.
Together, they created the perfect show. The perfect balance of light and dark. The perfect ending of a perfect day.
Final Comments: I really enjoyed listening to this music. My initial thought was to write a story about a carousel, but it somehow became stars.
