It’s been three months since we last glimpsed land. By this point, I’ve gotten so used to the rocking of the ship that I think I might get landsick if we ever do find land again.

“How’s the food situation?” Marion asks, poking her head into the door.

I shake my head and sigh. “Not great.”

I guess there are some advantages to three-quarters of the passengers and crew going missing in the middle of the night. Yeah, the sleeping and the nightmare situations aren’t great, but the attacks seem to have stopped. At least, for now.

The last attack was two weeks ago. Before that, they occurred consistently every night, so I guess you could say that we’re starting to feel confident that they’ve stopped.

The weird thing, though, is who’s left after all those attacks. I mean, the assortment is really quite odd. I mean, there’s literally no one useful left. No doctors, no university graduates, no one with any real common sense really. I’m the only one.

And no, I’m not exaggerating. I’ve talked to everyone left on this ship, and none of them have more than a high school degree. I mean, it’s not like I have one either, but at least I know that we need to be rationing food.

Marion is pretty much my only friend here on the ship. The others all think that I’m some kind of jerk by rationing all the food. But they should know better, if only by common sense.

It’s not my fault that they’re all just too dumb to see that we need to be saving our food. It’s also not my fault that they’re all dumb enough to let me take care of it.

I think that my idea to distribute the food according to brainpower used is pretty genius. So, for example, since I’m doing the bulk of the work, that means that I get the most food. Simple, right?

Final Comments: Ugh, I hated this one… I had no idea where to take the plot and it just ended up being messy.
