I wish it would rain. Just once.

I would give anything just to feel those cool drops of water on me again. I know that I’m not the only one suffering. The life around me begs me every day for water. Even though they’re built to withstand weeks of drought, it’s been too long for even them.

I think that the last time it rained was over five months ago. Only the heartiest of cacti remain, and even they are slowly dying off. All creatures able to move have done so already, leaving the rest of us to shrivel in our spots.

I remember the day the last snake left. He told me, “Stay strong. The rain will come, and when it does, we’ll all come back home.”

That was four months ago. Four months, I’ve been lonely. The cacti aren’t very talkative, you see, and the other plants were all panicking too much to make good conversation.

Now, our only hope is rain. I just hope that it comes soon, because I’m not sure how much longer I can hold on.

Final Comments: This was a really slow one to write… Also, though, the scene itself that I had imagined was pretty short and I didn’t want to draw it out for no reason.

Overall Rating: 😐
