Take Ten to Write

“Positively, Absolutely, One Hundred Percent”

“Are you sure?”

I scowl. “Yes, of course I’m sure.”

“But are you positive?” Kate prompts. “Absolutely, one hundred percent certain?”

“Yes!”

She throws me an exasperated glance before lifting the flask over the cauldron, the dark red liquid sloshing inside.

Hold on. Dark red liquid?

“Wait!”

She jumps. The flask dips and almost completely falls into the cauldron. “You just said you were sure, positive, and absolutely, one hundred percent certain. Now you’re telling me to wait?!”

“Yes.” I step up beside her and snatch the flask from her hand. “Because you asked whether you should be putting snake blood in next.”

“Yeah, and this is snake blood!”

“No, it’s not.” I shake the flask in front of her face. “Snake blood is medium red. This is dark red, which means that it’s mouse blood.”

“So? They’re both types of blood.”

I scowl. “There’s positively, absolutely, one hundred percent a difference!”
