Write a story titled “Only In The West”.

Listen up, folks, for ol’ Joey Eaton’s got a story to tell y’all.

Today, a snake bit me. Now, I know what y’all thinking: But Joey, ya get bit by snakes all the time; why is this bite worth mentioning? Well, I’ll tell y’all why. This snake was somethin’ special. This snake just happened to be none other than the notorious Lucy.

Yeah, y’all heard me right. The Lucy. The one an’ only.

Now, do y’all wanna hear exactly what happened? Yeah, I thought so.

So, there I was, ridin’ through the fields, enjoyin’ a nice, warm day with m’girl Sugar when a flash o’ movement caught my eye. A spot o’ green in the dust, a hiss o’ a rattle. Fear gripped my heart. Sugar spooked an’ wanted to run. But I wouldn’t let her. If this was the Lucy, I wanted to have a good, long look at her before I caught her an’ brought her skin back to make some nice, new boots.

I dismounted, quiet as a mouse, an’ approached the lil’ patch o’ green. I crept forward, ma gun at the ready. I was jus’ in spittin’ distance when I realized my mistake.

This was no snake.

A shadow moved behind me. A long, thin creature, with a forked tongue that snuck in an’ out between sharp teeth.

Lucy.

I turned around, quick as could be, but it was too late. That devil o’ a creature had already stuck her fangs deep into my flesh. I’ll tell y’all: it hurt like nothin’ I’ve ever felt before.

The last thing I saw before the darkness was Lucy’s big ol’ red eyes, staring straight into my soul.

Final Comments: I tried to make the Western accent as clear as possible, but I did run into some difficulties. It was definitely a lot of fun trying it out though!
