Take Ten to Write

“Love of my Life”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

Prompt: “I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.” — Emma Goldman

I come home to find the most beautiful bouquet of roses waiting for me on the dining room table. Our purple roses. The ones from our garden.

A smile spreads across my face as I read the note sitting beneath the bouquet.

“Hope you had a good day. Can’t wait to see you.”

My smile widens as my heart begins pounding with excitement. I check the time. I’ve still got an hour before he gets home.

I start by making dinner. I make his favourite pasta–all with ingredients grown on our farm, of course–and let it sit on the stove with the element on until he gets home. Then, I head out to the farm to finish up some last-minute chores before he gets home.

I just love being on the arm. Life here is so peaceful and beautiful. And I get to share it with the love of my life.

Final Comments: This one honestly felt a bit boring to write… I don’t know, I just had no inspiration for this one.
