“Let Me Go”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
Write a story titled “Let Me Go”.
It has been years since we last spoke.
Yet I still see that same sparkle in your eyes
As when I first saw you.
I know it’s hard to see me leave;
I never meant to cause you pain.
I hope you can forgive me one day.
Time has sent me on another path,
One which I must journey alone,
One which I must start anew.
Believe me, I wish that time had been kinder,
That it understood the intricacies of life
And of love.
But that is not what was meant for us.
Today might be our last together,
But it does not mean that the world will end.
I know you love me still.
And I apologize for my departure.
But now it’s time
To let me go.
Final Comments: So… I still have no idea how to write poetry. But this prompt sounded so poetic and this is just what came to me. Some of the lines are a bit blocky (is that a word?), but I like the story I told.
