“Inspiration Obsession”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
Prompt: “You can’t wait for inspiration. You have to go after it with a club.” – Jack London
I almost had her. She was just around the corner, waiting, taunting me.
Two hours, I’d been tracking her down. When I first caught a glimpse, she had smirked at me before taking off down the streets.
Every time I came close, she had darted off again, almost like she knew when I was coming.
I was getting frustrated. All I wanted was to talk, but she insisted on being difficult.
Still, I didn’t necessarily need her to be able to speak for what I wanted. If I got her measurements, I could draw up my piece without a problem. Then I’d be all set and she could go on her way.
If only she would let me get close.
Finally, I’d had enough. I’d picked up my club and followed her out here. I didn’t want to knock her unconscious, but if I needed to do it to get what I needed, I would. After all, she was my inspiration for my entire design; I couldn’t let her get away.
Final Comments: I think I took this one a bit too literally…
