Take Ten to Write

“His Love”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

Music prompt: “Savior” by Beth Crowley

A hand on my shoulder. A whisper in my ear.

He’s here. He’s always here. Hovering, just hovering.

I know what he wants. But I won’t give it to him. I won’t give it to him.

Not this time.

Still, his hand is there. He’s there. Watching me.

Suffocating me.

I try reaching for the light. I try grabbing for anything.

Anything at all.

I grasp at the air my lungs so desperately need. His hand holds me back. Grounding me.

Trapping me.

I thought that this time would be different. But his words draw me back in.

“I need you.”

“You’re my everything.”

“I love you.”

I wish I had the strength to run away. To escape.

But I’m helpless against your power. Your hand on my shoulder pulls me back, keeps me under your control.

Deep down in my heart, I know that I’m never going to leave.

Because you need me.

Because I’m your everything.

Because you love me.

So I’ll never leave you.

Never.

Final Comments: This one was a bit confusing to think through and the format was much different from what I’m used to, but it was definitely an interesting one to write.
