He promised me forever.
But how could he
When he didn’t understand time?
He promised me the world.
But how could he
When it wasn’t his to give?
He promised to be there.
But how could he
When he didn’t know our place?
He promised to care for me.
But how could he
When he didn’t care about us?
He promised me happiness.
But how could he
When he didn’t know me?
He promised to love me.
But how could he
When his heart belonged to someone else?
And yet
He promised.
Final Comments: I’m not completely happy with the wording of this one; it feels a bit too wordy at times.
