“From Lettuce to Carrots”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
Lettuce.
Apparently, lettuce used to be Billy the goat’s favourite vegetable.
Apparently.
Billy’s mother told him that he would cry and cry and cry until they fed him lettuce. Billy’s father told him that he would stomp and jump in circles until they fed him lettuce.
Billy didn’t remember any of this being, at the time, only a couple of months old.
Now, as a full-grown adult, Billy’s favourite vegetable was the carrot.
Billy’s brother made fun of him, telling him that he was like a bunny rabbit. But Billy didn’t mind; in fact, his best friend was a bunny rabbit named Tubbs.
And, come to think of it, Tubbs had been the one to introduce Billy to carrots.
So, if anything could be learnt from this short story, it is that Billy the goat was, at heart, a bunny rabbit.
Final Comments: Today’s story is extremely short because I just wrote a midterm and my brain is pretty much mush right now. Yes, that’s my excuse, and I’m sticking to it!
