Music prompt: “The Way For Victory” by Sky Mubs

She crouched in the ferns, hidden from sight. Yells and sparks of fire surrounded her. She was trapped.

Her eyes jumped around, looking desperately for an exit. Ferns to the left. Trees to the right. Thorns behind her. People in front of her.

That left upward. Her eyes drifted to the sky. The sky was clear. She could see the stars and the moon. She could see freedom.

The screams drew closer. They had spotted her. She had to move.

Her muscles bunched beneath her. Her claws dug into the ground as she prepared to jump.

The smoke rose above the ferns in front of her.

She jumped.

As she leapt, she spread her wings. The wind lifted her higher and higher. She soared into the night sky, the yells of the people fading below. Wind rippled through her fur as she rose into the night. The clouds met her, enveloping her in a soft hug.

She was safe.

Final Comments: Strangely, I don’t write about many mythical creatures.
