Take Ten to Write

“Eating Habits”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

Prompt: “Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking.” — H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

I’m pretty sure that my new baby pufferfish is super shy and will therefore only eat when I’m not watching. Of course, I’d love to watch little Muccii slurp up a snail, but he only ever seems to stalk it around the aquarium when my face isn’t pressed up against the glass. So, I’ve started standing back a bit to watch him eat.

It’s actually really funny how he approaches the snails. He swims up slowly, his eyes twitching all over the place as he watches it inch along. Finally, he’ll dart forward to suck out the poor, unsuspecting snail. A few slurps later, and it’s completely gone.

Now if only my little puffer allowed me to watch him!

Final Comments: BTW his name is Muccii and he’s pretty cute…
