“Dragon Food”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

Prompt: “A dragon rates his favourite breakfast foods.” — suggested by Mary

#3 Red clay bricks with goat jelly
One of my favourite breakfast foods is bricks. However, the redness in the bricks makes it even better than the usual brown ones. But the goat jelly really seals the deal. I never understood why goats enjoyed jelly so much–I didn’t think they gave any thought into what they ate–but apparently a special jelly is made just for them. I had the opportunity to try some when I was in Trivika last year and I absolutely fell in love with it. When it’s paired with red clay bricks, it’s one of my favourite breakfasts.

#2 Llama chow bird nest
I’ve always loved llama chow. It might be the soft, mushy texture, or it might be the taste of sweet, dewy grass that lingers in your mouth afterward, but I’ve just always loved it. My uncle introduced me to llama chow in a bird’s nest. The mix of textures just blows my mind every single time.

#1 Vanilla candle wax over dirt cupcakes
I’ve always had a sweet tooth, so of course cupcakes are my favourite breakfast food. Unfortunately, I can’t eat them too often because of their high worm content (I have a slight sensitivity to them), but they’re definitely worth the risk every once in a while. The vanilla in the candle wax just brings the whole dish together, and as an added bonus, they look great!

Final Comments: I really enjoyed writing this one! A bit tricky figuring out what types of foods a dragon would like, but this is what I ended up with.
