“Cupcake Wedding”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

“Write a love story between a vanilla cupcake with pink frosting and a pink cupcake with purple frosting.”

prompt suggested by Mary

Razzie took a deep breath. Today was the day. She was getting married.

She’d been dreaming about this day ever since she’d come out of the oven. But never in her wildest dreams did she ever imagine that she’d be getting married to the one and only Prince Vannil.

Razzie was a simple Raspberry cupcake, the seeds throughout her body reducing her status to an underling. She could never be as pure as the Vanilla family. Yet, here she was, about to walk down the aisle to marry Prince Vanil Vanilla, the heir to the throne.

She took a deep breath as she waited outside the church. The doors opened in front of her, revealing her future husband.

As soon as Vanil saw Razzie, his eyes lit up. He could barely contain his excitement; he was marrying the love of his life.

He had fought frosted tip and pan liner to convince his father to let him marry a Raspberry. Eventually, the king had conceded after seeing Vanil’s love for Razzie. Vanil knew that his father wasn’t happy about the marriage, but he was glad that he was at the wedding to support him.

The music started playing as Razzie walked slowly down the aisle. Vanil’s attention was completely captured by her enchanting purple frosting and glowing pink skin. He couldn’t tear his eyes from her sweet smile. He couldn’t believe how lucky he was to be getting married to such a wonderful cupcake.

“Do you, Razzie Raspberry, take Vanil Vanilla to be your husband?”

“I do.”

“And do you, Vanil Vanilla, take Razzie Raspberry to be your wife?”

“I do.”

“Then, by the power vested in me by Cupcakera, Lady of the Cupcakes, I now pronounce you husband and wife!”

And, ever since, Razzie Raspberry and Vanil Vanilla have lived happily together.

Final Comments: Again, another really interesting prompt suggested by Mary! I really liked writing this one. I don’t think that cupcake weddings get as much attention as they deserve, so I thought that I would write about one.

Hilariously brilliant execution!! Mary suggested a great prompt too, it took me a minute to figure out what colour each cupcake was. In the end, it didn’t matter, love is love 😛
