Take Ten to Write

“Crazy In Love”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

“When love is not madness, it is not love.”

Pedro Calderon de la Barca

Raymond stood in an evening gown inside a bank, waiting for his wife to finish bagging all the money. He held his gun in front of him and pointed it at anyone who dared make a move.

Cindy joined him, dressed in an equally lavish dress. She carried bags full of money in her satin-gloved hands and swept across the floor like the goddess she was.

“All finished, honey,” she said, a smirk playing on her red lips as she passed Raymond.

A crooked smile appeared on Raymond’s face and he mockingly gave a bow to everyone inside the bank to thank them for their time. Then, he turned and followed the love of his life outside.

~ ~ ~

Raymond and Cindy were not happily married. In fact, they hated each other. The only thing they could agree on was that they had the best job in the world. That was, as long as they didn’t get caught.

But they were pretty confident that they wouldn’t get caught. They were good at their job, perhaps even the best. They carried the confidence and swagger that only a master could afford.

So, while Raymond and Cindy hated each other, they stayed married. For love. Of course, not love for each other, but for their love of what they earned through a hard day’s work.

Money.

To be blunt, Raymond and Cindy were thieves. They robbed banks for a living, and they were the best of the best. Never once had they gotten caught. Never once had anyone even suspected their little side job.

Raymond and Cindy both had respectable careers. Raymond was a lawyer who was about to be promoted to senior partner at his firm. Cindy was the CEO of a successful firmware company.

They made a tremendous amount of money and had absolutely no reason to turn to crime.

But it wasn’t enough for them.

So began their exploration into the world of thievery.

Final Comments: I actually had a lot of fun writing this one. I enjoyed writing in this style – I think it’s a lot different from how I usually write – but it was fun trying something new!
