“Change Me Back!”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
Prompt: “Cat nose.” — suggested by Lexi
“A cat nose? Seriously?”
I shrug. “Yeah, why not?”
Beth shakes her head but raises her wand. “Okay then, if thats’ really what you want.
She points her wad at my nose and I stiffen slightly. My heart starts to pound.
“Just as long as you–“
There’s a sharp snap. My nose goes numb for a moment and I squeeze my eyes closed.
Beth’s face is the first thing I see when I open my eyes. Her expression is equal parts amused and worried.
“What?” I demand.
“Well,” Beth says slowly, “it’s definitely a statement look.”
What do you mean?” I ask, searching desperately for a mirror. “What did you do to me?!”
I stomp to the nearest puddle. I take a deep breath before peering down.
I look absolutely hideous. Sure, it was supposed to be a fun little joke between friends, but this is just too much.
I turn on Beth. “Change me back. Now.”
She looks at me with wide eyes and my heart sinks.
I walk to her and grab her by the shoulders. “Please, Beth, tell me you’re joking. Please tell me that you can change me back.”
She just shrugs helplessly.
