“Camping in the Valley”
Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!
I watch as the sun sets over the river, shining a soft light over the landscape before me. Everything is bathed in a golden light, gentle and warm and ever so beautiful.
There’s nothing like camping in the valley. I’ve never experienced anything else so peaceful or calming before, and I doubt I’ll ever find anything more so in the future.
I prepare dinner in front of my tent, watching the water ripple as it flows through the valley. Every so often, I catch a glimpse of a fish darting through the water.
A smile plays on my lips as I revel in the sounds of nature. Everything, from the birds singing to the wind whistling through the mountains, brings me joy.
When my meal is finished, I sit back and pull out my book. I lose myself within this distant, fantastical world until the sun signals that it’s time for me to sleep.
I return to the present and prepare for the night. I pull out a blanket and lie on my back, gazing up at the stars.
There’s definitely nothing like camping in the valley.
Final Comments: I had a hard time coming up with anything to write for this one. I wanted to write something more descriptive, but I feel like I’m just repeating a lot of the same imagery from my previous stories…
