Prompt: “I’ve never been better.”

“What are you doing here?” I gasp, a wide grin spreading across my face. Without waiting for her to reply, I pull her into a tight hug.

“I wanted to surprise you,” she laughs, squeezing me back. “Plus, I haven’t seen you in forever; we’re long overdue for some quality time together.”

I finally release her, unable to keep the smile from my face. “Oh, sorry, come in, come in!” I usher her inside and take her coat. We walk to the living room and plop down onto the coach. “So, what’s been going on with you? Tell me everything!”

She grins back. “I’ve been really good. Trevor and I have finally settled in and gotten our jobs all sorted out. San Francisco is so different from home, but I think that it’s finally starting to feel like our new home, if that makes sense.”

I nod. “That’s awesome!” With a smirk, I add, “So, now that you’re settled in, has Trevor finally popped the question or do I need to keep bugging him?”

A blush spreads across her cheeks. “Well, that’s one of the reasons I came to see you…”

My heart pounds and my jaw drops as she lifts her hand to show me her sparkling ring.

An inhuman squeal erupts from my throat as I attack my best friend in another hug. “Congratulations!”

Final Comments: It was fun writing something without conflict.
