“Always My Friend”

Prompt: Write a story titled “Always My Friend”.

From the moment I saw her, I knew that we were going to be the best of friends. The way she just sat there and looked up at me with those beautiful brown eyes… I just knew. I knew that I had to bring her home.

And so I did. I didn’t even tell my husband because I knew he’d say no until I brought her home and he fell in love with her. No, I wasn’t tricking him into letting me keep her. It just sort of happened.

When we got home, she immediately knew that this was where she wanted to be. She lay down right on the bed I’d bought her and looked up at me with a grin that said “I’m home.”

Of course, I was right about my husband. He was a bit mad at first that I hadn’t consulted him first, but he then immediately proceeded to fall in love with her.

From that day on, the three of us were inseparable. We did absolutely everything together, from going to the park to staying home and watching movie marathons all day on the couch. She was there when times got tough and she was there when times got better.

Now, I know that she’s still here. She’ll always be here, just like she’ll always be my friend.

Final Comments: This is the first TTtW story that I’ve written by hand in a long time. I was surprised by how easily I was able to write without stopping, but when I reread it, I wasn’t super happy with how it turned out…
