Take Ten to Write

“A World Away”

Author’s Note: This is a Take Ten to Write story and has not been proofread for errors. If I feel inspired or if there’s interest in the story, I’ll post a revised, edited, and extended version at a later date. Happy reading!

Music prompt: “Soldiers” by Rachel Platten

Their love was cursed.

When the day began, she would awaken.

She would dance with the wind.
She would sing with the trees.
She would bring smiles to the people.
She would cause wonder and joy.

But she would miss her other half.

When the night began, he would awaken.

He would dance with the wind.
He would sing with the trees.
He would bring smiles to the people.
He would cause wonder and joy.

But he would miss his other half.

The next day would be the same.
As would the next,
And the next,
And the next.

They would dance with the wind,
Repeating each other’s steps.

They would sing with the trees,
Adding to each other’s harmonies.

They would bring smiles to the people,
Seeing each other reflected there.

They would cause wonder and joy,
Even while missing each other.

Their love was cursed.
For as they chased each other every day,
They were always a world away.

Final Comments: I’m pretty sure that this made a lot more sense in my head than what I wrote.
